The AccessAfrica campaign is a strategic initiative by Access Bank Zambia to position itself as the "Gateway to Africa." It focuses on removing the friction from cross-border payments, which have historically been slow and expensive across the continent.

1. The Goal: Borderless Banking
Intra-African Trade: Facilitate seamless movement of funds between Zambia and other African markets (like Ghana and Nigeria) to support the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Financial Inclusion: Provide a reliable money transfer service that does not require the sender or receiver to hold a traditional bank account.
Cost Leadership: Disrupt the market by offering significantly lower transfer fees (as low as 2%) compared to traditional international wire transfers.

2. The Tactics: Ecosystem Integration
Tiered Transaction Limits: To cater to diverse users, the campaign established clear daily limits: ZMW 20,000 for non-account holders, ZMW 100,000 for account holders, and ZMW 1,000,000 specifically for SMEs.
Promotional Incentives: In March 2026, the bank launched a rewards program where customers transacting via the Access More app or the AccessAfrica platform could win prizes, encouraging a shift toward digital channels.
Strategic Partnerships: Collaborated with Mastercard to integrate the "Mastercard Move" system, enhancing the platform's speed and global reach beyond Africa.
SME Masterclasses: Hosted sessions (like the March 2026 event in Lusaka) to teach business owners how to use AccessAfrica to source goods internationally and scale their operations.

3. The Results: Market Expansion
Market Share Growth: Following the merger with Atlas Mara Zambia in 2024, the platform became available at 45 branches and over 5,300 agents, dramatically increasing its physical footprint.
Award Recognition: The campaign’s digital success contributed to Access Bank winning "Fastest Growing Retail Banking Brand, Zambia 2024" and being a runner-up for "Best Digital Media Campaign".
Operational Scale: By early 2026, the platform successfully connected millions of customers across multiple markets, supporting the bank's vision of becoming the world's most respected African bank.
Increased Digital Revenue: The bank reported a significant rise in digital transaction income, reaching K437 million in digital revenue as more users migrated to the automated AccessAfrica platform.
